Match Report/Information
Sharow won the toss and chose to bat, which was a bit of a shame as Glass wanted to bat first as well. Generally teams in Saturday League Division 6 don't do very well batting first; the more you practice at it, the more used a team gets to the pressure. That pressure showed a little in Sharow's batting; they were scoring at a good rate but felt they had to up the ante. Trevor came to their rescue, playing correct strokes, punishing the bad balls. Debutante Lee bowled well, but we missed 4 steady overs from the absent Ed (What? What's that about 4 steady overs from our Ted? I've never seen it. Have you? When?). Our turn to bat, and to win either Waqas or Lee needed to bat all the way through, and we so nearly made it. Lee's steady accumulation meant the asking rate was always there or there about. Selfless support from the others meant we needed 14 from the last over which went 1,2,1,4,2 which meant 4 from the last ball - only a single. Good inclusive captaining from both sides kept things alive. This was a game to be savoured.
