I didn't enjoy this match; l didn't enjoy it at all, and l am going to tell you why. This is Division 6 of the Evening League. There are no cups or medals down here; folk play for fun. Everyone who turns up should be able to contribute in some way or other. No one plays so that some much more skilled player can take the opportunity to demonstrate how clever they are. Every team has the right to play to win, but there is more than one way to do that. This is what you shouldn't do; put the same top four in your order, week after week. Pulverise the under 15 youngster who is trying his best. If you are a really good player, play in a league that tests you. There is something fundamentally wrong in hammering each side you meet; if it gives you pleasure, have a re-think. I used to play competitive league squash, and l ALWAYS let the other player play, win a few shots, encourage them when they did well. I never swamped them; there was no point. I am sorry Wath, but l won't be unhappy when you leave this league. It was fun knowing you when you were a fun team.
