Match Report/Information

The right plan would have been to have an 18 overs per side match, but the evening was so gentle. warm and beguiling, everyone thought that this would go on. The Stains won the toss and decided to field. Callum was captain for NS and, much to my surprise, was much less vocal than he normally is. It's the responsibility of leadership you know. Young Ellis showed great promise with a few well played shots; l think he could be pretty decent in the future if he put his head down and did some net practice. Waq scored fluently all around the pitch and looked relaxed and comfortable. Why does he bat like a crab on Saturdays? James looked the part and l think he will be an asset in the Niddy League. Overall though we batted at too slow a tempo and were 20 short of what we should have got.
For the Stains Dewi batted well, showing us good shots all around the ground. I particularly enjoyed his sweep off the front foot. Paul behind the stumps was not helped by some wayward bowling (11 wides). Chief culprit here was Mr Ellis. Bowling off 2 paces, he managed 5 wides. Even our old friend Lee Murdoch never did that. North Stainley's hospitality was as warm as ever. PS I tried the back road route to home, via Kirby Mal, and got lost, again. Has someone been taking the road signs down, or what?
