Match Report/Information
The weather forecast had predictions of utter gloom, and there was a stream of texts from points East (Harrogate) saying 'we are in a downpour'. No, Glasshouses was swathed in crystalline sunlight and we got through the game without rain or extra pullovers. Every one of our league victories this season (Nidderdale plus Evening) has occurred with us batting first. There are reasons for this; we bat much more aggressively, putting pressure on the opposition and, secondly, our bowling is more measured.
Paul is a great asset to the club; he's good behind the bar, brill at barbeques, bats a bit and bowls some right corkers. 44 is his lowest score at Glass this season and he put a stop to Richard Dale's onslaught with his dibbly dobbly bowling. Amy's vein of 'no shackles' batting continued; her 46 was off 35 balls. The bowling attack kept to it's task (line and length, line and length) pitching the ball up. I don't remember a single pulled shot or a hook. All their runs came off the front foot.
Discovery of the day was Adam's wicket-keeping. Ian phoned 5 minutes before the start to say he was going to bed so Adam, in his second game for us, demonstrated that he has a good eye, doesn't flap at the ball and has soft hands. He conceded only one bye (which went for four) which was a shooter. Well done, lad.
