Match Report/Information

Due to some selection difficulties, Ripley A put out their "lads and dads" team - including three U13s making their league debut (nothing like throwing them in the deep end!). Ripley "won" the toss and elected to bat.

An opening partnership of Wilson and Walker gave a solid foundation, until the latters stump came out the ground. A few lusty blows from the new calmer Mr Grant got us away, followed up by some classy batting from Robbo put us 80 odd for three. The U13s made their batting debut and a word for Jack Myers getting 11 not out. I decided to protect my bat by not using it and getting bowled first ball. Couple of hits again got us to 103 off 16 overs. A dare say more than the bookies were expecting!

Wilson and Grant have us a good start with the ball, the slower pitch allowing some turn and a couple of bowled for Grant. Archie Atkinson impressed on his first league bowl, picking up the wicket of Dan Harris (more worryingly caught Braddon) - not bad for your first one (if we could catch would of had two more). A tidy over from Jake on his debut also. Most worrying however was a wicket for Braddon - rarer than hens teeth. Taking Wath to13.5 overs to win the game was credit to the side.

I have to say thanks to Wath for their sportsmanship tonight - making sure the juniors were given a chance and their attitude throughout.

Now back to retirement.
