Match Report/Information

For the second time this season the match was decided on the last ball with Newron once again coming out on top in another well played game between these teams. Newtons skipper Graham Brown led from the front hitting 9 boundries from his 51 retired. He was abley backed up from Ian Noonan batting at a lofty 3 spot who christened his new bat with a fine 31 not out as Newton finished on 117 for 3 wickets down. The only down side was the loss of young Sam Blackburn who broke a finger or two when attempting a caught and bowled chance.
in reply Watlass started steady with openers S.Jones 23 and then A.Cooper 51 retired clearing the houses with some big hits. It was left to skipper Dave Jardine 34 not out to try and win the game with 12 required off the last over. With a six and a two Newton were relieved to get him away from strike with a single and then managed to close the game out without conceding another run as Watlass finished on 115 for 2 wickets down.
