Match Report/Information
Scruton won the toss and asked Eryholme to bat on a pitch made two paced by the recent poor weather. With the loss of their two openers cheaply the onlooking crowd may have been thinking it would be a night for the bowlers. But with the loss of early wickets out came C Biglin (14) who was eventually bowled by Scruton's best bowler Sam Hinton (21 for 3 off his 6 overs). However O King was the star of the Eryholme Innings finishing with 45 not out assisted untill close to the end by D Baldwin(12). This meant that Eryholme posted what appeared to be a competitive total of 88.
Scruton's innings started slowly with the usually reliable openers Mellor and Wright only mustering 13 between them and when Adam Dick was caught for 10 Eryholme must have thought that with Scruton well behind the rate that the game was there for the taking. However when D Baldwin(15 for 2)and M Hull (24for 1) finished their spells it was time for Scuton's opening bowling pair of S Gallagher who finished on 30no and Sam Hinton 36no to quicken the scoring rate to finish the game in the ninteenth over. Thanks to Eryholme for being a sporting team and as the curtain comes down on our first season in the Wensleydale Evening League I know I can speak for the rest of the team when I say we have had a very enjoyable time and are already making plans for next season. Thanks to our opponents, the ground staff, scorers, umpires and supporters at ours and all the other wonderful places we have visited this season. See you all next year.
