Match Report/Information
The match got under way at half past six. Scruton having won the toss elected to bat, on what despite appearances, turned out to be a good wicket. The openers made heavy work of it to begin with mainly due to some miserly bowling from O King(1 for 14 off his 6 overs). The breakthrough coming by way of a run out putting Hinton back in the shed for 10. However the pace of the innings was to quicken with James Wright finding the middle of the bat more often and retiring on an unbeaten 50 and Alex O Neil a belligerent 42 which included four sixes. The tail
failed to add any more runs and the innings closed on 117.
The rain had started by this time and it was very sporting of our guests to come out to bat in such conditions, C Bigton, the opener, being a thorn in the Scruton bowler's sides scoring an unbeaten 52 but following his retirement the pendulum swung back towards the bowlers and despite all results being possible at the start of the last over Scruton came out on top by 14 runs. Thanks again to Eryholme for a sporting and enjoyable game in far from ideal condtions.
