Match Report/Information

Sportsmanship: 8
Man of the Match: L Haslam

West Tanfield won the toss and captain Sam Abel invited Crakehall to bat.

On a wicket that at best could be described as a lottery, Crakehall's innings started off badly with G Sizer bowled from a Sam Hodgson daisy cutter. That brought L Haslam to the wicket to join S French who put together a stand of 70 runs, most of which were unique to Crakehalls' ground. Another bit of toe music from Sam Hodgson accounted for French, LBW for 34, shortly followed by T Bishop who was bowled first ball by one that did bounce and Haslam who was caught in the covers by Harry Glatman on 36. Once A Nelson decided to use his bat he hit a nice 14 before being bowled by Davison. J Lea (20*) and D Norman (9*) closed the innings, setting Tanfield a target of 131. Sam Hodgson finished with figures of 3-32 from 6 overs.

Tanfield were never really behind the run rate at any stage during the innings, with Adam Hodgkinson (42) and Aussie Boddie Arthur (49*) putting on 98 for the first wicket. Tidy bowling from B Bishop (0-35) and G sizer (2-19) kept Crakehall slightly interested in the game but despite the loss of Harry Glatman heshing across the line for 7, captain Sam Abel (13*) and Arthur saw Tanfield home.
