Match Report/Information

Sportsmanship: 10
Man of the Match:G Brown
Scruton's third game of the season brought their first win at the expense of the unbeaten Newton le Willows. Scruton won the toss and decided to bat and when opener Clemens was out off the second ball it was looking like a bad decision. However this brought Scruton's talisman, Andrew Wilson, to the crease and with the assistance of Steve Brass they set about the Newton attack with Brass bowled by Coombes for 29 and Andrew Wilson getting his second 50no in two weeks. The onslaught did not finish there with Steve Greensit finishing on an unbeaten 19 and Harry Dick (19) getting his highest score for Scruton.
In reply Newton were always behind the rate and even 53no from G brown could get them to their target of 134.
This was mainly due to some tight bowling from Harry Dick who bowled his 6 overs for a miserly 12. Also worthy of a mention was young Luke Ruocco's first ever wicket in senior cricket. Thanks again to Newton for a good game played in the right spirit and for fielding in the rain.
