Match Report/Information

Wacky Wednesdays took a short break this week to be replaced by Wobbly Wednesday, nay, Worriesome Wednesday.

Richmondshire won the toss and put Masham in to bat. Very shortly afterwards, Masham took the field after occupying the crease for a paltry handful of overs and mustering just 40 scampered runs.

The briefest of Masham innings saw a catch from a full toss, a pair of runs-out, a stumping that neither the keeper nor batsmen nor bowler knew much about and a Charlton hat-trick to dismiss Coombes, Hill and Smart. New Yorker Ron Buchannon looked comfortable as did Dwain 'Pipe' Heke, Isaac Jones (jnr) and lepidopterist Sturdy but tonight wasn't going to be Masham's night.

Charlton finished with 5 for 10 and had there been anything resembling a match, he would most certainly have swung it in Richmond's favour. Air-mobile Abbottson top-scored with 10.

There followed a brief interlude where Masham attempted to take the positives from the night's batting. It was
agreed that getting back to watch the highlights of the other hapless Australians being put to the sword at Headingley was that positive.

With an eye on Saturday, Abbottson called on the hairy antipodean and haulier Hill to open the bowling. The pitch
which had hidden many snakes and damp patches during the Masham innings had apparently dried out during the tea interval and had become a sublime batting paradise second only to The Oval; Carr placed Heke to the long-on boundary where there was an unfortunate leather/doberman-stool interface. With the Masham fielders none-to-happy to handle the ball, Swainston had a life as Abbottson spotted some faeces on the ball as it travelled to him at slip. He pulled out of the catch with moments to spare.

Craig Broadley (jnr) continues to impress and managed to eek out the vistor's innings to 9 overs. Not a hint of rain
despite the predicted Biblical deluge to save Masham as it did Thorpe Perrow last week.

Well-stuffed.

But we're over it.
