Match Report/Information
Returning from international operations, Cpt Abbotson relieved Platoon Sergeant Smart of his duties and took a well balanced side to Middleham. With plenty of confidence in his batting attack Abbotson won the toss and without looking at the wicket decided to let the troops have some "trigger time" at the crease.
The early attack left two fallen men before the heavy artillery of Heke and Bucanon got the heads of the bowlers down. Bucanon played like a man that had just sealed the well in the Mexican gulf and his care free attitude allowed him to cruise to 22. Heke smashed a few high mortars down before removed by Potter lookalike Wise.
The rest came and went, with the only highlight being Coombs selfless act of bravery, putting his body on the line with a " I dont need a guard" and getting a golden quaker.
In reply Flash bang threw a few grenaeds down but was unable to penetrate the Middleham frontline. Heke did get a breakthrough with a RPG style delivery before being disicplined, being taken off, due to lack of fitness and too much girlfriend committment.
Broadley toiled for an upsetting zero wickets as did Howard. The game was in the balance until Sniper Sturdy came on. The ex foreign legion marksman made a great impression, having not fired for ten years. Heke may have got the kills, but battle awards go to Sturdy.
Bring on last match of the season......too much wackiness of late
